Sri Grandhi Satyanarayana, a renowned businessman from Tadepalligudem, founded the Gayatri Educational Society in 1998 to promote quality education. Under his vision and the leadership of Secretary & Correspondent Sri V.V.N. Lakshmi Narayana, a Chartered Accountant, the GMR group of institutions was established, including:
- Sri Vasavi GMR Junior College
- Sri Vasavi GMR Degree College
- Sri Vasavi GMR B.Ed. College
- Sri Vasavi GMR D.Ed. College
